SOLO AND ACOUSTIC JUKEBOX GIGS

After years of playing in bands, Mike decided in late 2013 to develop a solo career to run alongside his other work. His back catalogue of around 400 songs takes in most American music styles from the early days of blues and country through the Sun records era, Chicago Blues, folk rock and pop from the 1960s onwards and anything loosely known these days as Americana. In a solo gig, you can expect anything from Bob Dylan to Hank Williams to Bruce Springsteen to Smokey Robinson with even a bit of Fats Waller and George Gershwin and some of his own songs  thrown in. Mike plays for any size of audience from festivals to front rooms and house parties.

His latest development is the "Acoustic Jukebox" nights where Mike invites the audience to select the songs he sings. There is no planned setlist, just an invitation to choose from the best music of the 20th century and then listen or sing or, if you can play, join in. Its all live with no backing tapes, loops or overdubs. Carting a wurlitzer jukebox to gigs is a bit complicated so its not actually a jukebox - its all done via a laptop and if you've got wifi, it can take in any song you want (with a few exceptions!!). Mike's database of songs includes many suggested to him by his audience. Most evenings end with a right good sing song / jam session !

Mike is compiling an evergrowing list of performers and songwriters whose material is in the jukebox. If you want to suggest a song or songwriter, please send him a text or email.
